Before and after hook

A before-and-after hook shows the starting point and the result side by side in the first second. It works because the contrast proves the payoff before any explanation, and viewers stay to learn how the change happened.

How it works

Show, do not tell: a split screen or a quick cut from before to after. Use the same angle, light and framing so the comparison is fair.

Be honest about what changed and how long it took. Do not stage a worse "before" or hide tools that made the "after" possible; audiences notice, and many platforms have rules about misleading results.

Then explain the steps, quickly.

Works best for

  • Makeovers: rooms, hair, cars, gardens
  • Skincare and fitness (with honest disclosure)
  • Design, editing and renovation services
